Version 5.5.8 (Released March 13, 2008)

• Fixed the problem with ‘Command STOR not understood’ on some servers when uploading a file edited in the internal editor.
• The process of deleting multiple files/folders was optimized.
• A few minor problems and text issues were fixed.

Version 5.5.7 (Released January 30, 2008)

• Improved quick view/edit remote function with a progress dialog box and the possibility to cancel a transfer.
• Improved compatibility with Windows Vista, in particular when the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) is activated for all programs.
• Fixed the issue with ignoring "Confirm overwriting of identical/newer files" option during drag-and-drop operations.
• Fixed the issue with the incorrect order of items in the “Quick connections” submenu.
• A number of other small issues was fixed.

Version 5.5.6 (Released December 2, 2007)

• Fixed the problem with disabled entries in the Site Manager on some user systems.

• Improved support of Windows Vista with active User Account Control (UAC).
• Fixed a problem with uploading files bigger than 8 GBytes to FTP servers.

• Many substantial enhancements have been realized to significantly speed up file transfer and reduce the utilization of system resources.
• The implementation of the SFTP protocol (SSH) has been optimized to enable much faster file transfers in this mode as well. The file list on the server is no longer refreshed after each upload, but only when the transfer has been completed.
• New Update Manager: Now shows important news and announcements in addition to available updates.
• The listing of directory contents containing large data volumes has been improved.
• The transfer mode for directories has been enhanced: now, directories are first added to the transfer list and then transferred. This also allows easy abortion of individual transfers.
• Deleting files and directories on a server has been optimized and now works faster.
• Searching for files on remote servers has been optimized. The search operation can now be aborted at any time.
• A new program option has been added which allows you to specify a size for the folder used for temporary Quick View files.

• Improved Folder Synchronization Tool - it now also shows details of local and remote files to be synchronized; a synchronization error that occurred when a newer file of a smaller size was scheduled for simultaneous upload and download has been fixed.

• More security: Supports the cryptographic protocols SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and TLS (Transport Layer Security) for secure data transfer and communication with FTP servers.
• Macro functionality: Enables you to record frequently performed actions and run them subsequently as often as you wish.
• Fast and user-friendly transfer: first compress files directly from WISE-FTP and upload them. Alternatively, you can split large files for fast upload/download.
• Even more security: Provides numerous encryption algorithms (RijnDael 128, 192, and 256 bits, BlowFish, TripleDES, as well as PGP) for the encryption of files to be transferred to or from the FTP server.
• Optional special user interface for improved handling of simultaneous connections: If you are working simultaneously with several FTP servers, each server can now be represented in the FTP server window as a separate tab.
• Direct transfer from FTP server to FTP server. The new multi-server interface supports transfer with drag & drop.
• Enhanced support of customized commands: Integrate your customized commands in the menu, assign keys to commands and use macro parameters.
• Improved support of FTP servers that do not work with standard response types.
• Better integration of main program and task planner for the user-friendly scheduling of repeat transfers.
• Various other improvements and optimizations.

• Improved support of symbolic links. It is now possible to point to a file/folder with absolute path. The file/folder is in this case however not accessible via FTP protocol.

• Fixed bug with negative progress percentage while transferring files bigger than 2 GBytes.

• New and improved user interface: The program has a more flexible and further advanced user interface. You may now move around individual parts of the main window, hide them or rearrange them using drag-and-dock. The program also features various skins, which you can use to adjust the user interface to suit your personal taste.
• Integrated compression/decompression: Save a lot of time when transferring data. You can now use WISE-FTP to directly compress and decompress the data you want to transfer. The program supports the most popular archiving formats; e.g., .zip, .z, .cab, .gz, .tar.gz, etc.
• FTP server statistics and logs: You can now generate meaningful statistics and diagrams about your FTP server. One glance will give you information about usage, traffic, errors, etc. WISE-FTP can now also permanently archive logs, even after the session has ended.
• True file preview: The integrated preview function and the new editor enable you to display practically every popular file format directly on the FTP server, including text files, scripts, images, PDF files, MS Office documents, zip files and many more.
• Improved Site Manager: WISE-FTP 4 now distinguishes between two types of FTP profiles; Your own and shared FTP servers! Your own servers are safely stored in your private directory. So if you share a computer with other users, only you have access to it! The shared servers on the other hand are accessible to all users of a particular computer.
• Support for masks: You can now use program commands for an entire group of files using WISE-FTP's new file masks. For example, if you only want to download all the files that have an htm extension, enter "*.htm" into the mask instead of individually downloading each of these files from the server.  
• Display filter for improved overview: If you work with FTP servers that have a large collection of cluttered files, you will quickly come to appreciate the new display filter. Simply enter the type of file you are looking for and the display will be filtered to show only the appropriate files.
• Transfer queue: Instead of immediately uploading or downloading files, you can put them in a queue and set the time of transfer.
• Improved Task Planner: The Task Planner (previously called Scheduler) is now better integrated into the main program. You can now schedule transfers directly from the main program.
• New task type: "Synchronization" : The task planner now includes a new task called "Synchronization", which allows you to synchronize your local folders with the FTP folders .
• Backup and restore FTP sites: WISE-FTP now enables you to back up your FTP sites. You avoid losing data and at the same time, are able to load and save various site files.
• Files are displayed the same way they are in Windows-Explorer, including file icons and options for tiling, lists, details, etc.
• Support for Port zones and integration with NAT routers.
• Supports the XCRC command. Some FTP servers use this option to check a transfer and ensure that no errors occurred during the transmission.
• Drag & Drop using the right mouse button opens a pop-up menu with a selection of various commands.
