Binary mode

Use binary mode to transfer files that are not pure text files (e. g., .txt, .html, .htm, .cgi). Executable programs, word-processing documents, databases, image and audio files (.bmp, .jpg, .exe, .zip etc.) are only a few examples of files that have to be transferred in binary mode.

This mode should also be used for unknown file types, or those with extensions that are not registered by Windows.

TIP: If you are sure that the local and remote systems are using the same operating system, you can transfer in binary mode exclusively.
